PACC EDC MEETING 9-30-16
Present: Brian Moore, Laura Edelblute, Ron Cooley, Debbie Kohman, BJ King, Mike Compton, Mike Hurd, Dan Havener, Bob Jennell, Rob Platte & Diane Grove
7:35 am - Meeting opened with Pledge of Allegiance
Reports:
- BJ King (Pataskala) – There is activity at the Pataskala Corporate Park, announcement expected in the near future. Budget should be adopted by end of November; process was shortened by 6 weeks. 2017 predicted to be a busy year for Pataskala. Meeting with architect on the new police station. Downtown Main St. working with AEP to finalize preparations to bury elec. Working on widening Mink, 100 parcels being negotiated-utilizing grant money.
- Dan Havener (Reynoldsburg) – Livingston Ave & Brice Rd project ongoing. Had town hall meeting last week. Income tax increase on the ballot from 1.5% to 2%. Community Center purchased pool property in Huber Park, 10-11 acres. Having conversations with health partners. Improvements on E Main St in process. E Broad St shops are filling in-Winking Lizard going in.
- Laura Edelblute (LMHS) – New medical center on Main St in Newark had approx. 500 people attend grand opening. Downtown Newark health center opening 2017. Pataskala hired a new primary care physician. New program in Newark, drug users turn themselves in, get treated at LMHS. Pataskala formed drug task force, LMHS donated drug testing kits.
- Laura Edelblute (Rotary) – Rotary made improvements to Karr Park. Laura was also named new chair to Licking County United Way.
- Diane Grove (PACC) – Golf Outing was a success, Oct 18 meeting at Etna Twp. building, speaker from Amazon, Nov 15 meeting at Liberty Christian, Ribbon cutting Oct 6 at 5 pm at new martial arts business on Broad by Busters, Business After hours Oct 19th at PBJ Connections 5:30-7:30.
- Bob Jennell (SWL Schools) – Battle for Broad St tonight (9/30). 269 new kids in SWL School system this year. Modular units to be placed at the middle school. District office to be complete mid Oct. Preschool has asbestos in floor & ceiling tiles, will be removed next summer. SWL report card has improved, all day kindergarten began 2 yrs ago; when these students make their way up scores will improve even more. Bond issue on Nov ballot, 2 new buildings, state contributing 55 million. All buildings are over capacity at this time.
- Mike Hurd (Job Ready Site) – There are 110 acres in the Job Ready Site at the Pataskala Corporate Park in contract, 45 acres are in negotiation and a lot of other parties are looking at the site. Announcement expected soon.
- Rob Platte (Etna Twp.) – Watkins & Refugee will become 4 way stop. New development (155 acres) SW of 70 & 310, working on rezoning & abatement pkg. New project in works for NW of 70 & 310 to be announced next week. AEP sub-station on Smoke Rd at capacity, AEP working on new sub-station in Etna Corp Park. Taylor & Palmer Rd project to be complete end of Nov. Revitalization Dist. on Nov ballot, approx. 24 parcels, to help with liquor license for future hotel & restaurant development.
