PACC EDC MEETING 11-18-16
Present:  Brian Moore, Laura Edelblute, BJ King, Mike Compton, Mike Hurd, Bob Jennell, Rob Platte, Chris Strayer, Mike Compton, Nate Strum, Philip Wagner & Diane Grove
7:35 am - Meeting opened with Pledge of Allegiance
Reports: 

  • Laura Edelblute (LMHS) –Downtown Newark health center opening 2017. 
  • Laura Edelblute (Chamber)-Holiday Luncheon at Pataskala Grace 12-6-16 at 11:30.
  • Laura Edelblute (Rotary) – Poinsettia orders due tomorrow.
  • Rob Platte (Etna Twp.) - Rt 310 widening project should wrap up Sept 2017 along with the bridge, State added ½ million to the project for a total of 3 million. SW corner of I70 & Rt310 in contract with CRT-Clayco Realty for 155 acre retail & Prologis type property.  The NW corner of I70 & Rt 310 has been purchased by Centennial Harley Davidson. They will move their Rt16 location here and it will include a training facility. Rob accepted a new position at Licking County Planning & Development effective Monday, November 28th.  The revitalization district passed. Rt70 & Rt158 are being looked at for development.
  • Mike Hurd (Job Ready Site) – A food processing plant is showing interest but finds Amazon ads looking for employees worrisome.  It was pointed out that to date,  Amazon has met employment goals.
  • BJ King (Pataskala) – 2017 budget will have 3rd & final reading at next council meeting ahead of schedule.  Police station is being designed, hoping to break ground spring 2017. AEP project moving along, groundbreaking soon. Striping today on Broad St, almost finished there. Pataskala ready for snow removal. AEP to complete work in downtown Pataskala hopefully in spring 2017, hooking up residences from underground and removing old poles.
  • Bob Jennell (SWL Schools) – SWL levy failed, will be back on the ballot in spring, millage should be lower due to abatement assessment of the district. Asbestos will be removed from the preschool building over next summer.  Additional modulars will be added to Etna & Kirkersville. Track will be re-surfaced next summer. District office is officially open. First day back from holiday break Pataskala Elementary will ring the old bell at noon. 25-30 kids from robotics club toured the Amazon facility. Old building will be torn down soon. Roger Pickering overseeing brick program.
  • Philip Wagner (LH Schools) – LH levy failed. Buildings are over capacity, must work together to have a strong community.
  • Mike Compton (Mayor Pataskala) – SWL school board meeting - drug task force lead by Ben Richards.  Opt-in program begins 2017, $67 per person, drug test, includes perks for participants. Pickerington schools had 650 kids join. Dates: Dec 3 – Main Street Christmas , Dec 10 – Outville Parade & dinner auction, Dec 15 – Shop with a Cop.
  • Nathan Strum (Grow Licking County) – Prologis received Developer of the year award and Amazon received Large Industry Scale and Most Economic Impact awards. AEP deal complete and lots of interest in rest of Pataskala corporate park and JRS site. 45 active projects. Licking County Chamber has a young leaders group for 20-40. Nathan traveled to Italy & Germany and met with 5 companies over 12 days.
  • Chris Strayer (Columbus 2020) – 149 projects in the system, 20% Jobs Ohio, 60% 2020 & 20% other parties. 70% existing businesses, 30% attractions. 71 wins so far in 2016 probably 10-15 more by end of year creating 4000 jobs.  10 year vision was 150,000 jobs created at 130,000.
